<p>The first thing to get your mind around is that losing weight is not a one time process, like having your wisdom teeth removed. Sure we&#8217;d like to go to bed tonight, and wake up skinny, but it takes time. Those that think they can suck it up and diet for a couple of weeks and not gain everything right back are usually in for a surprise.</p>

<p>The best way to think about it is to think of it as a slow change in lifestyle. Not an abrupt change, like swearing off ice cream for good, but a slow, gradual change. The new direction is automatic.</p>
<p>The first thing to do is to get in the habit of doing some kind of physical activity on a regular basis. It&#8217;s best to do something every day, but don&#8217;t worry about this too much at first. Just shoot for some kind of physical activity, nothing too strenuous or difficult. Maybe taking a walk a nighttime, or doing one or two push ups in the morning.</p>
<p>Next thing, of course, is your eating habits. This too should be done as slowly as possible, so it&#8217;s easy. Maybe one meal a week should be focused on healthy food. Then after that&#8217;s easy, increase it to two, and then three, etc.</p>
<p>By going slow, and making gradual changes, you&#8217;ll yourself a dramatic advantage that most people don&#8217;t have patience for. But you&#8217;ll have the last laugh, as you will be developing a healthy, slim body that will last you a lifetime.</p>

</div><p>There are many problems that many people have in today&#8217;s world. Some problems are due to a luck of the draw, and can&#8217;t be helped. <p>When you get down to the truth of the matter, there really are only two things that will help in this. Diet, or changing your eating, habits, and exercise, or increasing your activity level. In this article I&#8217;ll be addressing exercise.</p>

<p>If you step into any modern fitness club, you&#8217;ll see a huge amount of different machines offering different kinds of exercises. All of these can easily be put into two categories. Strength training, and endurance training. Endurance training is anything you can do for more than ten minutes without a break. Running, cycling, swimming are all popular endurance training exercises.</p>
<p>What about strength training? These are exercises that require short bursts of energy, like weight lifting or sprinting. One myth of strength training exercises is that they always produce huge muscles. This is absolutely not true.</p>
<p>Which are best for weight loss? With endurance training, or cardiovascular training, you&#8217;ll burn more fat while doing the actual exercise. With strength training, you&#8217;ll increase the amount of lean muscle mass, which in turn will increase your metabolism. This means you can burn fat while watching TV, or sleeping.</p>
<p>Most people find a healthy mix is best. Do a couple days a week of endurance training, and do a couple days a week of strength training. Some even prefer to both every day, doing some body weight exercises in the morning, and having a brisk walk in the evening. Whatever you feel most comfortable with will work best for you.</p>

</div><p>The holiday season is a time for shopping, gift giving and eating. Lots of eating. If you are on a diet, this can be the toughest time of year to stick to it. No matter how much willpower you have, you will always find yourself by a plate of tempting cookies or a Christmas cake.</p>
<p>There are many things to pull you off your path of dieting discipline. Parties, get togethers, plates of cookies mysteriously appearing at work. That cake that you feel obligated to have a piece of. However, there are a couple things you can do that can help. Read on.</p>
<p>Willpower. This is where you avoid eating anything extra at all costs. You don&#8217;t eat any cookies at work, and you only drink diet soda at the office Christmas party. The plus side is that you won&#8217;t gain any weight during the holidays. The negative side is that you won&#8217;t have much fun.</p>

<p>The third and most popular option is my favorite. Forget everything, and eat all you want. Enjoy yourself. Wait until after the holidays and start your diet then. The benefits of this, of course, is it&#8217;s the most fun. The drawback is that in a couple months you will have to pay the piper.</p>

<p>What about the exercises? Any exercise that works your large muscle groups. Your legs, thighs, buttocks and core. Your core is your abdominal and your lower back muscles. By building up your lean muscle mass, you will be supercharging your metabolism.</p>
