Laser Liposuction - Risks to Keep in Mind Prior to Signing Up for This Treatment
Most natural methods of losing weight take a very long time, and you can easily lose your motivation, which is why liposuction procedures have become so popular.
Liposuction is the surgical removal of fat from the body, but it has side effects like any other surgical procedure and the body can possibly take a long time for post-surgical recovery. Whereas laser liposuction, which is a more recent surgical innovation, is safer than its predecessor and more suitable for the patient.
As the name suggests laser liposuction utilizes laser technology to melt the fat before removing it. It uses a narrow fibre tube, which is heated through a laser to liquefy the excess fat. The fat thus melted is extracted from the body by the surgeon, and any remnant fat is absorbed by the patient s lymph glands.
Scars, loss of blood and pain that are a common feature with normal liposuction are absent in this procedure, which makes it a good fat loss treatment alternative. Sensitive body tissues are not affected in this procedure as the lasers are inserted with an anaesthetic and a special salt solution.
Along with fat removal, laser liposuction also results in tightening of the skin, and this is good news for patients like post-pregnancy women who have loose skin. What makes laser liposuction the most sought after procedure is that the patient can be up and running immediately after the surgery and can join his workplace in about two days time, whereas in traditional liposuction he may have to remain confined to bed at home for weeks before he can get back to his feet.
But laser liposuction too has a few small disadvantages. Being a minimally invasive procedure, it is more effective for targeting fat in areas like arms, shoulders and the face, and not in areas with excess fat deposits like stomach or thighs. Another drawback is that the technique being relatively new in the world of cosmetic surgery, still has to stand the test of time to prove that it will cause no side effects in the longer term. Last, but not the least, laser liposuction is a very expensive treatment and it is not possible for everyone to benefit from it.
