Weight Loss - YouTube - Healthy Weight Loss Tips - Nutrition by Natalie

I hear it all the time. At parties, from clients, and yes, from myself. Does this sound familiar?: “It’s just a cookie”, “It’s just one bite”, “It’s just a small piece”. I like to call these the “Justa’s”, and they will keep you fat.

When I was in the Weight Watcher’s program, I went to the monthly meetings to stay focused and motivated, and there was a great speaker one night who put the “Justa’s” in perspective.

She said “If you take all the little bites and pieces of food that you eat throughout the day, the ‘one bite of this’ and ‘just a piece of that’, and put it all in a Zip-loc bag, by the end of the day it would really add up to more than you think.” (It would also be pretty gross wouldn’t it?)

The thing about “Justa’s” is that they seem harmless at the time when you are lured by them. You probably won’t hear yourself saying “It’s just a half gallon of ice cream”, or “It’s just a hot fudge sundae”. You know that those are foods that will lead to weight gain.

But, the smaller bites trick you into thinking they won’t add up to much, and I’m here to tell you that it could be the very thing sabotaging your weight loss.

The good news is that these little bites can be easy to pass up, because you usually don’t set yourself up for great expectations before you have them. “Justa bite” feels very different than treating yourself to your real favorite off-diet food.

These “Justa’s” are small potatoes when it comes to some of the other weight loss choices you have to make, so aren’t you willing to make these small sacrifices now for a BIG payoff later?

Every bite is a choice, and the “Justa’s” aren’t worth the consequences of that choice. Your favorite off-diet foods should be enjoyed and savored, and the “Justa’s” don’t fit the bill.

So, skip the “Justa’s”. You won’t be missing much, and what you’ll gain could be the results you’ve been looking for along with new motivation to stay on the right path.
